Prepping up for their highly-anticipated Summer drama, Cha Eun Woo and Shin Se Kyung decorate the cover of Singles magazine.
Flaunting their stunning visuals, Cha Eun Woo and Shin Se Kyung are set to top-bill MBC’s period romance drama, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung.
Set in the background of early 19th century, the new series reels interest with its woman-empowering premise. The period drama threads on the struggle of female historians who face bias treatment in the society where Confucianism is deeply-rooted.
Shin Se Kyung’s new character
Portraying the titular role is Shin Se Kyung who expressed confidence in the new series. Revealing the excellent synergy with her male lead Cha Eun Woo, the actress whose portfolio includes acclaimed historical dramas shares the new venture is different. Her appearances in Tree With Deep Roots and Six Flying Dragons both challenged Shin owing to its emotional mood.
This time, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung will feature not just poignant moments but cheerful tones. Shin said, “The script is neat. Not only the characters, but the overall balance of the story is exciting and funny.”
Elated to portray a strong heroine, Shin also remarks her dilemma in previous dramas where she played relatively feminine roles. Citing Charlize Theron as an inspiration, she aspires in effectively suiting up for characters she chose to give life to.
Cha Eun Woo’s first historical drama
Meanwhile, Cha Eun Woo who will be marking his first period drama also reveals his preparations as the main hero of the series.
Aside from purposely losing weight, Cha confesses the challenges he hurdles breathing life to Prince Lee Rim. Additionally, he relays his enthusiasm in convincing the viewers of the charms of Lee Rim. Brimming with cuteness and pure innocence, Cha gets suggestions from the director and staff to help sketch his character.
The dashing actor also shares his motto now that he has been gaining experiences and opportunities.
“A person who is grateful is a truly happy man,” he said. He also added, “I want to give a lot of faith to people by building diverse experiences.”
Expressing aspirations for future activities, the singer-actor who is living his early 20s makes an inspiring message. Living without hesitation, he feels great reward in how work lets him experience, grow and be refined as a person.
